The entire congregation mourns the passing of our beloved Irene Goodman, but we celebrate the long and wonderful life she had. Our lights have dimmed but our memories shine brightly.

Though small in stature, Irene was a giant at MMAE. We honored her at her 100th birthday in November and how she beamed with pride and love for all of us when she came up to the bema to deliver her response. And we beamed right back at her.

To Ann and Jay and the entire extended family, we say,

HaMakom yenachem etchem, b'toch shaar aveylay Tzion V'Yerushalaim

May Hashem comfort you among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem

So sorry for your loss yet you've had the blessings to have had her as family touching your hearts for a very long wonderful time. Irene gave such a bright flame of the spirit - even until a couple of weeks ago ; she volunteered at Myerberg Center, she continued to play Majong and Rummiekub "for something to do"[smiling], and walked to the recent Art show at Myerberg - exclaiming about the art, smiling at some art work and thoughtful consideration of others. Full of being alive - a very incredibly sharp, kind, and cometimes quite humorous lady, she has been a long blessing to MANY people. All of us who've lived together as neighbors at W.W. have enjoyed her graceful presence. Miss her. Take care.

Dear Ann and Jay,
Your mother was an amazing woman, it was only a few weeks ago that we saw you having lunch together in Baltimore...a life well-lived, seems to go very quickly, even though the years in number may seem long. May her memory be a blessing to you and to your family.

It was a shock to hear of the passing of Irene. Everyone from MMAE was sure that she would always be there. It will not be the same to enter the sanctuary and not see her sitting there and the sweetness that this woman shared with everyone. It will be a big void for us.
